MWeb Flash Prototype
Did you know that the MWeb Enterprise Database can be used by other programs? We are developing a prototype Flash interface to MWeb Enterprise Databases that will show the possibilities.
Adobe Flash is a way to present users with interactive multimedia experiences beyond what can be done with an HTML interface such as MWeb Enterprise. Flash is excellent for displaying animations, movies, sound, and visual effects, and these can be used with the data in an MWeb Enterprise Database by using the MWeb Enterprise XML Server (priced separately).
We are developing the prototype in Adobe Flex, a free tool, and will provide the source code free to MWeb Enterprise clients for them to build on.

Self-Hosted PastPerfect-Online Now Available
Just released! MWeb Universal 1.1 provides web access to your PastPerfect database on your own server.

Here's how:
- Order the PastPerfect-Online upgrade from PastPerfect Software, Inc. ($248, $199 for AASLH members).
- Order MWeb Universal 1.1 from our Online Store (only $249 until February 6).
The
PastPerfect-Online upgrade provides an easy way to configure the
database. Then just export the database from PastPerfect and copy to
your server.
(This product requires some technical ability to
configure the server. For the easiest way to publish your PastPerfect catalog, simply use
PastPerfect-Online and let PastPerfect provide the hosting.)
Here's what's coming for MWeb Universal:
- Release 1.2 will provide access to MARC files in their native form.
- Release 2.0 will provide simultaneous searching of multiple databases of different types, on multiple servers anywhere! (Try it at our Demonstration Site, which includes a relational database, a MARC file, and an MWeb Enterprise database.)

Lower East Side Tenement Museum to use MWeb Enterprise
We welcome the Lower East Side Tenement Museum, of New York City, which will be using MWeb Enterprise for its collections online system.
In addition to collections information, MWeb will provide online access to a multimedia encyclopedia about tenements and New York immigration.
The site will be available in early 2008.
